CNA Classes in Kansas

Kansas is one of the most central states in the country, known for having a flat geographical location.  Many of the baby boomers are coming to the age of retirement, resulting in a need for skilled healthcare.  If you are considering becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, now is a great time to enter the field.  

The state of Kansas requires CNAs to have met the requirements of 90 hours and pass the state exam receiving certification prior to starting employment.  The CNAs must be registered with the Kansas Nursing Home Nurse Aide Registry as well. 

Kansas CNA Certification Requirements

Before becoming a CNA in Kansas, you must meet the following requirements:

Kansas CNA Training & Testing Costs

CNA Training in Kansas 

Kansas College of Nursing There are multiple options for the CNA program at Kansas College.  There are days, nights, and hybrid options.  With various ways to complete the program, this makes taking the course quite flexible.

Flint Hills Job Corps  Located in Manhattan, Kansas the Flint Hill Job Corps program is conveniently covered in 18 months.  The website has a lot of helpful information for any questions that you may have.  Also, if needed, you can contact the school directly. 

Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas. On their website the CNA course details can be found under the Allied Healthcare tab.  The course description has information of what is needed prior to applying to the program. The program costs are also listed as well.

Cowley College. CC offers the CNA program on the Winfield campus.  The programs run twice a year and offer a flexible schedule.  First, you must submit an online application.  If you have questions that cannot be answered from the website, then a phone call may help.

Out of State CNAs

If you have a license or are certified in another State, you may be able to seek reciprocity in order to practice in Kansas.  You will need to contact the Department of Health to see if your state qualifies.

  • Complete the Interstate Application
  • Two forms of ID and social security number
  • Must have a clean record on your current license or certification with your home state

CNA Renewal in Kansas

The renewal process happens once you have had your license for two years.  A notice will be mailed to you 45 days prior to expiration.  You must also have worked 8 hours within the 24-month period and there is a $20 renewal fee to be paid at the time of renewal.
