CNA Training in Cranston, RI
Cranston Adult Education. This program is approximately 15 weeks long covering 120 mandatory hours. This is comprised of 80 hours of classroom theory followed by 40 hours in clinical training. CPR is included in this course. Students that already possess CPR certification must present their card. Tuition is $850 and includes textbooks, $300 of which must be paid when you register. The rest must be paid fully within 7 weeks from the first class otherwise the student will be terminated. Tuition doesn’t include equipment. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted. There is an additional fee of $149 for the state application licensing.
Health Care Connections. This Nurse Aide course consists of 80 hours of theoretical knowledge and 20 hours of hands-on training. There might be an addition of extra hours if there is a need. The course is approximately 8-10 weeks long and new classes begin each spring and fall. The classes meet twice on weekday evenings and every Saturday morning. Graduates become eligible to take the state certification exam. Tuition is $650 and includes licensing, BCI check, CPR training, textbooks, materials, uniform, equipment, CNA pin, and certificate after graduation, and must be paid in full at orientation.
Community College of Rhode Island. This state-approved program is 143 hours long and consists of 75 classroom instruction hours, 24 hours of skill instruction, 40 hours of training in a clinical setting, with a final 4 hours of skills laboratory. Classes begin every three months. Upon graduation, students will be scheduled for the State Board exam at CCRI’s testing facility. Tuition is $860 which includes a non-refundable registration fee of $10, books, a blood pressure cuff, and a stethoscope.
CNA Classes in Providence, RI
HITEP. The course is 140 hours long and includes a 16-hour hands-on training as well as a 4-hour challenge module so that students can analyze current events relevant to working as a CNA. HITEP also offers support in Spanish for those limited in speaking English, however, students must be able to read and write in English. For tuition costs please the school directly.
Crossroads Rhode Island. This 7-week course is comprised of both theoretical knowledge and clinical training. Out of State CNAs
CNAs from out of state can begin to work in Rhode Island when they transfer their license through reciprocity. The process will take 4-8 weeks and comprises of the following steps.
- Visit the Department of Health and download the application form.
- Show evidence of your certification. Your home state’s training must be a minimum of 100 hours; for those who attended programs with fewer, you may provide proof of full-time employment as a CNA of a minimum of 3 months.
- Your former employer in your home state needs to complete the employment verification on your application and direct the filled-out document to the Rhode Island registry.
- Consent to a criminal background check at the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General
- Make sure your application is notarized include a passport-sized photo as well as a transfer fee of $40 before sending it to the registry.
CNA Renewals in Rhode Island
Your Rhode Island CNA license is good for two years, after which it must be renewed. Your renewal notice will be sent to you by the registry 60 days prior to your license’s expiration. You will need to fill out the form of renewal and request a signature from an official at a licensed institution that proves you have been employed for compensation within the two years period. Your license must be active for the period indicated. Employment at facilities that aren’t licensed will not qualify for renewal.
