CNA Classes in West Virginia

The state of West Virginia has an elderly population that is rapidly growing. By 2030, about a quarter of the state population will be aged 65 and older. Many medical professionals are overburdened and struggle to serve the state’s aging population. This means that trained professionals entering healthcare are more necessary than ever. For interested candidates, training to become a CNA may be an excellent choice for an entry-level role in the healthcare field.

CNAs cannot work in the state without formal certification. The CNAs must be registered with the state nurse aide registry. Training is available to help interested students become fully certified. For more information, see the requirements below.

This option is particularly advantageous for individuals who may have jobs, family responsibilities, or other obligations that make attending traditional in-person classes a challenge.

The Blended Online CNA Program, meticulously designed by the West Virginia Health Care Association (WVHCA) in collaboration with Academic Platforms, emerges as a notable online educational initiative for aspiring Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs). As a program endorsed by the Office of Health Facility Licensure & Certification (OHFLAC), it holds substantial promise. The program offers a distinctive approach, enabling both non-facility and facility-based training programs to seamlessly amalgamate didactic nurse assistant training with concurrent clinical training.

The program accommodates a contemporary learning landscape, ensuring compatibility with a spectrum of devices including smartphones, tablets, PCs, and Macs. E-book, lecture, and video instruction are thoughtfully hosted in the cloud, eliminating the necessity for cumbersome downloads or installations. Augmenting accessibility, audiobook functionality enriches auditory learners’ experience. The integration of in-person skills and clinical training sessions complements the online didactic component, thereby fostering a holistic educational milieu. The provision of grading software empowers instructors to conduct electronic evaluations, streamlining the assessment process. Moreover, the program’s data analytics capabilities encompass class activity reports, student-specific data, and assessments of student competency, contributing to pedagogical refinement.

The program design extends the opportunity for institutions to incorporate bespoke content, enhancing adaptability to varying instructional needs. A noteworthy aspect is the accessibility of a “Next Steps” document, offering valuable guidance to program participants. West Virginia CNA Certification Requirements

The restrictions filtering some applicants from others are very few in number. Virtually anyone who wishes to become a CNA in West Virginia may be eligible to train for certification. There are no minimum education requirements, though it is prudent to acquire a GED or a high school diploma. Most can enter training programs, however, as long as they can comfortably read and write. Anyone who wants to be certified should be at least 18 years old. Sex offenders or abusers who target vulnerable people are not eligible for certification. Therefore, background checks may be required.

West Virginia CNA Classes & Testing Costs

Students who want to achieve certification must pass an approved course. A minimum of 120 hours is expected and 65 of those hours should be spent in class. The rest of the allotted time should be devoted to clinical hands-on care. It may take between 4-6 weeks to pass a training course. The training is designed to prevent people from spending years in school.

The programs may cost anywhere between $350 to $1500. Some departments may offer subsidized training in exchange for new employees. Entry into these programs may be competitive and those who are seeking employer sponsored training may be placed on a waiting list. Students should be prepared to set aside extra money to cover the cost of uniforms, textbooks, lab equipment, and other materials.
