By 2030, one out of every five people in Indiana will be a senior citizen. A little under a million citizens in the state of Indiana are at least 65 years old. This development is a clear signal that experienced medical staff will be increasingly necessary. In order to keep up with the demands of a changing state, trained and competent CNAs will be required to assist medical establishments.
Prospective CNAs must get state-approved classes and certification in order to qualify for their careers. Certain requirements must be met in order for CNA students to progress in their courses.
Indiana CNA Certification Requirements
Certain requirements should be met in order for people to begin and complete their CNA classes. Most institutions require applicants to be in good health and social standing. Requirements often include:
- Consent to a criminal background check
- A physical exam
- Results of a TB test
- Immunization record
- An age of over 18 years
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Other requirements vary by institution. In order to discern what any additional requirements may be, it is a good idea to contact these particular institutions directly.
Indiana CNA Classes & Testing Costs
In order to obtain CNA certification in the state of Indiana, prospective candidates must pass a proper certification class. Certain institutions offering CNA courses may vary, but the baseline demands require 105 hours of classes. 75 of these hours should be devoted to clinical experience. Students who do not graduate from a state-approved program may not become certified; therefore, checking to see if institutions are state-approved is crucial. If scheduling is difficult you may be able to find a hybrid program with in-person and online CNA classes in Indiana that better fits your schedule. Ask about these hybrid options when you inquire about class options.
Costs of the program may vary. Some programs may cost about $400. Others may exceed $1000. Preregistration is recommended, as CNA programs fill up rapidly. For locations offering low-cost CNA classes including in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Evansville, follow this link.
