Out-of-State CNAs
CNAs certified out of the state may apply to become CNAs in Texas through reciprocity. Candidates must fill out Section One of the reciprocity application, make sure their certification is active, and await the registry response for 2-4 weeks. Candidates must also obtain a criminal background check. An ID copy is also required for the Texas Nurse Aide Registry.
Renewal
A CNA certificate in Texas does not expire. But CNAs must maintain active status in order to remain on the registry. In order to keep the certificate from expiring, CNAs must contact the registry every two years in order to provide proof of their employment. This will keep the CNA certification up-to-date.
