CNA Classes in Wyoming

Wyoming has a large aging population. 20% of the state population is over the age of 65. This particular segment of society will need healthcare and well-trained professionals to work with them. CNAs may be in particularly high demand in Wyoming. For those who want an entry-level position in healthcare, training to become a CAN may be an excellent start.

CNAs in Wyoming must receive formal training, become certified, and be in good standing on the Wyoming nurse aide registry. The process of becoming fully certified can be quick. Interested candidates should read on to learn more about how they can begin the training and certification process.

Wyoming CNA Certification Requirements

Each training center in Wyoming will have its own predetermined restrictions and requirements for their CNA candidates. The state does not impose education restrictions. Candidates may have their educational background analyzed after they are fully certified. It is a good idea for candidates to acquire a high school diploma or GED before becoming certified; most Wyoming employers will prefer candidates who have graduated from high school.

Candidates should meet the following requirements before becoming trained and certified:

  • An age of at least 18 years
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent (recommended)
  • No records of arrest, crimes, or assault of any kind
  • Valid state-issued ID card
  • Physical Exam and TB Clearance (current within 1 year)
  • Immunization (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Meningitis)

Wyoming CNA Classes & Testing Costs

Candidates who want to become certified must pass a course. The Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1987 informs the state training process. Prospective CNAs must complete at least 120 hours of training. Some schools will provide more than the minimum requirement of training to prepare their graduates for success. Classes should provide both in-class work and clinical care experience. Some training centers may provide help for graduates to successfully pass the state competency exam. Training programs may run anywhere from 4-8 weeks.

CNA classes in Wyoming will vary in terms of cost. Some classes at community colleges and schools may cost more than other programs. Those with budget constraints should look for cheaper options or financial aide. In general, it is a good idea to have $900 ready for payment. It is a good idea to set aside at least $200 more for class materials such as books, uniforms, entry fees, or parking fees. Those who graduate and are employed at a Medicare/Medicaid-funded establishment may be eligible to have the cost of their training fully refunded. These candidates should be employed at these facilities within 12 months of their graduation. For those looking for free CNA training, please follow this link.
