Michigan is a state with unusually low birth rates. This means that the population in Michigan is aging fast and there are few people left to care for senior-aged people. This means that CNAs will be in increasingly high demand in Michigan. Those who are interested in making contributions to Michigan’s healthcare industry should contemplate beginning CNA classes.
Those who wish to be CNAs must complete state-approved programs. All students who successfully pass a CNA course must also pass the Nurse Aide Registry exam in order to begin work. Continue reading to learn more specifics on how to become a CNA in Michigan.
Michigan CNA Certification Requirements
People who wish to begin CNA programs must meet specific requirements. Before applying to CNA institutions for classes, make sure the following demands can be fulfilled:
- An age of at least 18 years
- A submitted TB test
- A passed criminal background check
- Proof of immunization
- Demonstrated capability to read and write English well
- A high school diploma is preferred
Michigan does not always demand that CNA applicants be high school graduates. However, good communication skills are typically expected from applicants. Therefore, applicants may be tested on language comprehension.
Michigan CNA Classes & Testing Costs
The state of Michigan has at least 200 state-approved courses available to candidates interested in earning their CNA license in Michigan. A minimum of 75 hours of classes is expected from class graduates. 16 of these hours should be devoted to hands-on experience. Continuous education is expected from students in order to improve their ability to provide effective care to patients. High schools, community colleges, and vocational institutes may all provide excellent CNA programs.
The costs of getting your CNA certification in Michigan may vary from one educational provider to the next. Some institutions may cost as little as $500. Other programs may charge over $1600. Textbooks, manuals, uniforms, and other relevant equipment may cost up to $500 extra dollars. Some institutions may provide classes as a part of becoming employed at their organization.
