How to Get Certified as a Nurse Aide

Headmaster facilitates the testing procedure for prospective CNAs in Michigan. Once a prospective CNA passes the state-approved competency examination, Headmaster will then inform the examinee via mail. Please be advised that appropriate fees may apply.

How to Verify a CNA Registry Status

In Michigan, employers and CNAs can verify status by going to the public nurse aide registry at https://nurseaideregistry.apps.lara.state.mi.us/

How to Renew a Certificate for a Nurse Aide

The Michigan CNA Registry requires all CNAs to renew their certificates every two (2) years. Another requirement is to have proof of employment with 8 hours or more of work as a nurse aide within the last two (2) years prior to the expiration of the said license. Once these requirements have been met, Prometric will then process the certification renewal along with the necessary fees.

How to Reinstate a Lapsed Nurse Aide Certificate

A CNA that has not been involved with any paid nurse-related work in the last 2 years will be required to re-take the competency exam from Prometric in order to have their lapsed certification reinstated.

How to Get Certified via Reciprocity

A nurse aide whose certification has been obtained from another state is eligible for transfer in the state of Michigan via reciprocity if he/she is in good standing as described in the Michigan Public health Code under Section 333.21913.
