Becoming a New CNA in Wisconsin
Candidates that plan on working in the state of Wisconsin must perform the following steps:
- Enroll and pass from a nurse aide training program endorsed by the state.
- Get a passing score from both parts of the of the competency evaluation which are knowledge and skills-based.

CNA Certification Verification in Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry can be searched by name, social security number or registration number to determine a CNA’s certification status within the state of Wisconsin.
CNA Certification Renewal in Wisconsin
Nurse certification within the state of Wisconsin is only valid for two (2) years. To be eligible for certification renewal, nurse aides must provide proof of work done equivalent to at least eight (8) hours during the latest certification period. Applicants can visit the Nurse Aide Training and Registry Information page of the Department’s website and login to TestMaster Universe (TMU) for renewal processing.
CNA Certification Reinstatement in Wisconsin
Renewal applicants that are unable to comply with the requirements must apply for a reinstatement instead. They must be able to retake and pass the CNA certification evaluation exam before being accepted back into the nurse registry.
Out-of-State Transfer of Certificates into Wisconsin
Having one’s CNA certification transferred to the state of Wisconsin can be done through multiple ways. Qualifications for the said transfer are:
- Currently active as a CNA
